Membership

The Groves Women’s Golf Club (GWGC) has been in existence at The Groves Golf & Country Club for more than 12 years.It has an avid membership that includes various levels of play. Any female golfer age 45 or older with an active Golf Handicap and Information Network (GHIN) number is welcome to join. GWGC plays every Tuesday throughout the year, alternate Saturday’s during prime golf season and every Saturday during the warmer months. The Club typically sponsors four tournaments per year during the Fall, Spring and Winter months. Most games have an 8:00AM shotgun start. Members pay a minimal fee for each game that is used for prize money and closest-to-the-pin contests. An optional chip-in contest is also available for some games. The 2018 annual GWGC membership is $30. The $20 annual GHIN fee and all green fees are paid directly to The Groves Pro Shop.

Hopefully, by the time you read this, we are once again playing on our course at The Groves. A big thank you to Garrie and Bonnie for their hard and time consuming work to make play possible at other  courses during our closure. The feedback from the ladies that participated in play at other courses has been very positive.

Update on the beautification project for Hole #12: Authorization of our landscaping design was delayed by the HOA Board until a beautification plan for additional holes is determined.  This determination should be finalized within the next month.  Once it is determined if all holes will be landscaped consistently or if landscaping of each hole may vary, our final authorization request, submitted to Tom Dee, will be reviewed.

A few reminders:  NO BLUE DENIM attire is permitted while playing golf on our course.  The leagues are working closely with the Pro Shop staff to improve pace of play and to ensure a round is finished within 3-1/2 hours.  If a ranger asks your group to speed up, please comply. Also, players are asked to limit their time searching for a ball. If your ball is not found within two minutes, please deem your ball lost and proceed with another ball following the appropriate golf rules.  If desired, you may resume your search for the lost ball after completing the round.

The heat has not subsided.  So, wear appropriate clothing and HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE  while playing.
